Before you print or send
Give the baraat, dwar puja and lagan times
The lagan is often late at night. Guests with elders and small children plan around it — so say when each part begins.
Give the tilak its own line
It is held at the groom's home, often weeks before. Its own line — or its own card — keeps it from being missed.
Take the lagan only from your pandit ji
Copy the time exactly as the family priest gives it — never guess it.
Check every name with both families
The spellings, the titles, and who is named at the foot. Ask the eldest in each family before you print.
Let the children write the baal manuhar
In their own words — Maithili, Bhojpuri or Hindi — with their own names.
A Bihari wedding card that opens
Kohbar turns these words into an invitation in the Madhubani style — every painting draws itself in ink as guests scroll, then fills with colour, with your names in the kohbar's lotus and each family greeted by name.

Questions families ask
What is written on a Bihari wedding card?
Often: an optional Shri Ganeshaya Namah, Shubh Vivah, the groom (Chi.) and the bride (Sau. Kan.) with their parents, the date and the lagan, the venue, the baraat and dwar puja times, the family's names at the foot, and a baal manuhar.
What is the tilak in a Bihari wedding?
The bride's family — often her brothers — go to the groom's home with gifts and put a tilak on his forehead, sealing the match. It is often weeks before the wedding, so it gets its own line or card.
What is the dwar puja?
The welcome at the door: when the baraat reaches the wedding, the bride's family greets the groom with a puja before he comes in. Give it its own time on the card.
What is the kohbar?
The room of the newly-weds, painted for the wedding in Mithila — fish, turtles, bamboo and a ring of lotus. Kohbar, the Invitetale design, is drawn in that Madhubani style.
Can we send the wedding card on WhatsApp?
Yes. With Invitetale it is a link where every painting draws itself in ink and fills with colour, with each family's name, the lagan, every ceremony and a map. Free to try; ₹1,999 once to send.
